Cleaning Tile Grout in West Islip, NY
We're all guilty of having dirty tile grout. No one enjoys having to clean it! It's not fun at all. So today, I decided to have a little fun with it and do a little side by side comparison on three different ways to clean your grout. I'm looking for the easiest, but I'll also let you know what works the best and is the cheapest as well.
I started with the cheapest solution first. Odds are that you have one, if not both of the things you will need. You want to mix two parts baking soda with one part hydrogen peroxide for the best results. Grab an old cleaning toothbrush and get to work! Scrub, scrub, scrub!
Next, I tried some oxygen powder! (Oxyclean for those of you who, like me didn't recognize the generic name). This was pretty easy. You add the oxygen powder to a cup of boiling water, mix it up and again, use your toothbrush to apply it. You can let it sit from anywhere between five and thirty minutes. Just make sure that the mixture doesn't dry out.
Finally, I took my steam cleaner, and attached a nylon scrubby head to it. All I did was scrub back and forth. Like any of these experiments, make sure you have a rag handy to wipe up any of the dirt or grime as it loosens.
The steamer was definitely the easiest way to go, however it does require that you have a steamer. Next best was the oxyclean method. Any the cheapest and most laborious was the hydrogen peroxide/baking soda mixture. I hope this brief synopsis of these three different ways to clean your grout helped you out a ton! Now stop procrastinating and GO. CLEAN!
